Missouri Soccer Park - Opening Fall 2018

World Class Soccer Complex Coming to Boonville, Missouri.

Byrne & Jones to install FIFA Certified Soccer Field in Mid-Missouri.

Central Missouri is about to become a world-class soccer park destination, drawing competitive teams from across the Midwest to play on what’s considered to be the premier soccer field playing surface in the world. It will all be happening in Boonville, Missouri at a new, six-field soccer complex scheduled to open in spring/summer of 2018.

The city of Boonville recently broke ground on their new, six field soccer complex featuring five synthetic turf fields and one natural grass. The existing Boonville public high school soccer field will also be used as part of the complex for a total of seven fields. The city of Boonville selected Byrne & Jones Construction, to complete the base construction for the synthetic turf fields and Greenfields, as the synthetic turf-playing surface.

Byrne & Jones will construct the soccer fields, located near the high school to the north of I-70. The scope of work includes soil stabilization, concrete curbs, sub-grade fabric, drainage system, aggregate and turf installation – totaling 437,371 square feet.

The City of Boonville wanted to create a unique playing experience for their players – something they would notice the moment they stepped on the soccer field. So they chose a FIFA approved, woven synthetic turf system made by GreenFields. The new fields will feature the same surface that the U.S. National Soccer Team will be practicing on in Kansas City.

What’s so special about this turf?
The fibers are woven, not tufted into the backing.

Woven turf was first introduced in Europe in 2010. Europe was the place to introduce it because soccer is the National Sport and woven turf was the first product that was designed and developed, from its inception, with soccer as the main focus point.

GreenFields has installed over 100 woven fields throughout Europe since then, many that have attained FIFA certification each year. Many of these are the stadium fields in the European Professional League (EPL).

In the past, most professional teams didn’t play on synthetic turf fields because the ball roll was too fast and too inconsistent compared to grass fields. Players also didn’t like the inability to use proper mechanics when kicking a ball because they couldn’t get under the turf when they kicked like they can with natural grass. There was also a different level of resistance compared to playing on grass.

The woven surface solved all those issues.
