Due to travel for the majority of our youth members this week, we’re shifting the webinar by one day to tomorrow. Since this is late notice, we will record the webinar and send a link to anyone who feels they would like more info on any topics covered below.

SafeSport Reminder: Checking the Centralized Disciplinary Database

As part of both Public Law 115-126, the Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017 (the “SafeSport Act”) and U.S. Soccer Policy 212-3, certain applicable Member Organizations must conduct Appropriate Background Screening of Participating Adults prior to regular conduct with a Youth Participating or within 45 days of the Participating Adult taking on the role giving them access to Youth Participants.

As part of that screening, Member Organization should check the Central Disciplinary Databaseat the U.S. Center for SafeSport to ensure there is not a current restriction levied by the Center that may not be triggered on a standard background check. As a reminder, all Organization Members are subject to the Center’s jurisdiction and authority in regard to any disciplinary decisions.

Additionally, if you are aware of any disqualified or suspended individuals from your organization who should be on the CDD, but are not currently appearing as such, please be sure to fill outthis spreadsheetso we can report said individual to the Center.

2020 AGM: Call for Bylaw Amendments

In accordance with the United States Soccer Federation Bylaws 801 and 802, any proposed amendment to the Federation's articles of incorporation or bylaws must be submitted to the Secretary General of the Federation at least 120 days in advance of the National Council meeting.

This year, the deadline for submission of said proposed amendments is October 19, 2019. The document containing the information about submitting an amendment is available here.

As a reminder, the 2020 AGM will be held in Nashville, TN from Feb. 13 - Feb. 15. Registration is open for all attendees until Dec. 21, 2019. Please contact us if you have any questions, or visit our website.

2019 Innovate to Grow Application Window Open Until October 15

As mentioned, the 2019 application cycle for the Innovate to Grow program opened last Monday, September 9 and will stay open until Tuesday, October 15. Click here to apply now.

2020 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Local Qualifying Begins This Weekend

Less than a month after Atlanta United FC won the 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final with a 2-1 win against Minnesota United FC on August 27, it’s already time to start qualifying for the 2020 edition.

Eighty of 88 amateur sides approved to compete in local qualifying will see action at the first hurdle, scheduled for Sept. 21-22. The remaining eight teams have been issued byes to the second qualifying round, set for Oct. 19-20.

The local qualifying survivors will be joined by Newtown Pride FC (Newtown, Conn.), the 2019 U.S. Adult Soccer Association (USASA) National Amateur Cup champion in the tournament proper. The provision to automatically advance the Amateur Cup winner to the Open Cup proper began with the 2019 competition.
