By Allie Ryan

U15G: Champions – Lou Fusz Tottleben

Lou Fusz Tottleben came out on top in round-robin play and in finals weekend for the U15G age group of State Cup. They allowed 0 goals in the opening weekend and only allowed 2 finals weekend through all 5 games. Lou Fusz Geerling and J.B. Marine Smith both finished in a close second of their brackets just missing a shot to head to the finals. State Finalists, Sporting STL 2005 Academy battled hard to win their bracket with 3 wins and only 2 goals allowed. They lost the tough fought State Cup Championship game 3-2 to Lou Fusz Tottleben.

U16G: Champions – Sporting STL Red Devils

In the U16G age group, tensions were high, and the competition was extremely close in one bracket on who would be heading into the semi-final matches. Sporting STL Red Devils 2004 won Bracket A, allowing 0 goals and winning their matches 5-0, 6-0, and 8-0. Bracket B was topped by SLSG 2004 Elite with yet another 3-game shutout over their opponents. Bracket C was a bit more challenging between Real W.C. Elite 2004, Fire FC Heat, and Alliance FC Academy Elite 04. All three teams were tied for first in their bracket heading into their final match. Real W.C. Elite tied their last match 0-0, and Fire FC Heat beat Alliance FC Academy Elite 04 (2-1), which put Real W.C. Elite through to the semi-finals because of goal differential. In the semi-finals, Sporting STL Red Devils would win the first match over Sporting STL 2004 Rangers 1-0, and SLSG Elite advanced to the finals against Real W.C. Elite 1-0. Heading into the final State Cup Championship match, neither team had allowed any goals through 5 matches. Sporting STL Red Devils would go on to win their 3rd Missouri State Cup Championship in a row by winning 4-0. They allowed 0 goals for the entire tournament and scored 24.

U17G: Champions – Lou Fusz McKee

The U17G age group was very close until the 3rd set of games played on Sunday of opening weekend. Lou Fusz McKee 03 topped their age group by winning 9-0, 3-1, and 7-0. KC Athletics Red Star 03 advanced on goal differential over SLSG 2003 Elite Green in Bracket B. Lou Fusz Phillips also advanced in Bracket C. KC Athletics Academy Premier went through as the wildcard where they lost to KC Athletics Red Star 2-0. In the other semi-final game, both Lou Fusz teams would face each other fighting for a spot in the State Cup Championship. Lou Fusz McKee opened up scoring early and advanced with a 5-0 win over Lou Fusz Phillips 03. Lou Fusz McKee would be known as a tough competitor to KC Athletics Red Star in the finals because they had just won the previous State Cup Title, Midwest Regional Title, and a National Championship. Lou Fusz McKee would continue their streak and go on to win the State Cup Championship 4-1.

U18G: Champions – Lou Fusz O'Rourke

Lou Fusz teams were very successful in the U18G age group and had 3/4 teams advance to the semi-finals. Lou Fusz United Blue topped Bracket A, Lou Fusz McVey topped Bracket B, and Lou Fusz ORourke topped Bracket C all advancing.  Sporting Springfield 02 Juventus was the lucky wildcard to make it through to the first semi-final game where they would go on to beat Lou Fusz United Blue in a very close game 1-0. Lou Fusz ORourke won 2-1 over Lou Fusz McVey in the other semi-final match of the U18G age group. As the last Lou Fusz team remaining out of 4, they were able to pull off an impressive 8-0 win in the State Cup Championship game beating Sporting Springfield 02 Juventus.

U19G: Champions – Lou Fusz United Blue 01

The U19G State Cup meant so much to this age group because this is their last club season before graduation and their last State Cup competition. Many of these girls have been playing in the State Cup tournament since U13. In the first semi-final match, Lou Fusz United Blue 01 would match up against AFA Fillies Wyland Black and won 2-1. The second semi-finals match was played between KCSG Academy Navy 01 and J.B. Marine SC Schneider. In order to advance to the semi-finals, the last game played by J.B. Marine SC Schneider was a nail biter and may have been the closet game in this year’s State Cup tournament. J.B. Marine SC Schneider scored with less than 5 seconds left on the clock to advance. They would then go on to beat KCSG Academy Navy 01 3-0 to play in the championship game against Lou Fusz United Blue. Lou Fusz opened up scoring early and led 1-0 for most of the game. They would seal the deal in the 74th min to go up 2-0 and win their final State Cup title ever.
