Midwest Conference Update


Midwest Conference Fall 2020/Spring 2021 Update (5/20/20)

This email is for all team contacts that are listed on current Midwest Conference (MWC) teams registered for the 2019/20 season. The MWC is one of 13 conferences across the country that make up the USYS Leagues Program. See below for important upcoming dates and information.


This email is being distributed to the team contacts from the 11 State Associations that are within the footprint of the USYS Leagues Program Midwest Conference (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin).

We hope that everyone receiving this email is staying safe and healthy during these uncertain times. This is just a quick email to keep you updated as we approach the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 application periods.

Team Refunds for the Spring 2020 Season Teams
We continue to work through this process. We are getting close with the actual refund amounts, we hope to have all of our final costs locked down by the end of the week and then we will be able to get the final team refund approval from the National Office. As you can imagine, the majority of our administration and operational costs still remained throughout the winter and spring since the initial process began for the spring season, but we will give the maximum team refund possible and this will be distributed back to the state associations asap for dispersal to the clubs within their states. Please remember the league fee was $550, a partial refund will come from that figure. State associations have their own additional fee's and those will be up to the state assns to determine how they handle that.

Fall 2020 Application Window
As you may know, we are switching over to the GotSport (formerly GotSoccer) platform for the Fall 2020 season. We are currently working with the GotSport team to make sure we have a smooth transition, we are currently testing the application pages and once complete your state association will provide you with these application links as we do not list them online. There will also be an instructional walk-through document provided that will walk the applicants through the form that they will fill out for each team. The fall 2020 season will be open for applications on or around June 5 as we await the final details of the National Showcase Series to be published. Application links will be sent out to all clubs from your state association at that time. All 2020/21 seasonal year team information documents will be updated and published on the website prior to the application window opening. We look forward to seeing you all this fall.

Team Registration Fee's
A reminder that the team fee for the conference is now $650 per team. Each state assn has their own admin fee included on top of this. We recently collected all of this data from the state assn offices and this has been included into the application fee and will be automatically generated as one fee when the team goes to pay online. Teams will have two payment options. They can pay by credit card online or they can mail in a paper check to the National Office. Teams that choose to pay with a credit card will be charged a processing fee, this processing fee will be 3.25% plus a $0.15 per application fee for a credit card payment. Credit cards will not be actually charged until a team is officially accepted. If they choose to mail in a paper check this will incur no additional fees and they will be provided with a payment form that must be included with their check when it is mailed.

Scheduling Plans due to COVID-19
We of course have to be very aware of the fluid situation we have in regards to COVID-19. At this time we are working on our plans to have a full fall season bracketed and scheduled the same as we have in the past. The in person scheduling meetings have been a great success over the past few years and allow us to carry out several important meetings with our club leadership during those meetings. But we are sensitive to the fact that these meetings may not be an option in mid July, so while we will list the meetings on the calendar, there will be an asterisk next to these to have an online scheduling option available should we need it. There will also be some concerns regarding multi state travel for the fall season starting in August. Again, we will go ahead with scheduling as planned, but behind the scenes my team are already looking into alternative play options for our teams, that would require less travel and accommodation. This is an ever evolving process.

Team Information Documents for the 2020/21 Seasonal Year
We are in the process of updating all of the team information documents and calendars ahead of the application window opening up. Many of these documents are on hold until we have all of the final GotSport information sorted out, but we will have all of this information uploaded onto the website before we open registration on or around June 5. 

National Showcase Series
The national office is currently working through all of the final details on the National Showcase Series. We expect to have all of these details published on the US Youth Soccer website before we open up the fall conference application window on June 5. This announcement will provide all of the dates, locations and event details for all showcase events that will be offered. We will also send out all of these details as we have them. This information will be for all fall 2020 and spring 2021 teams.

Spring 2021 Application Window
The application process for the Spring 2021 season will open on or around July 24, 2020 for 2021 Spring Season (15U through 19U) and October 12, 2020 for 2021 Spring Season (13U & 14U). Again, the application links will be provided to all clubs by your state associations.

June 26 - State Assn. Deadline for Approving/Rejecting Teams for 2020 Fall Season
July 10 - Selection Committee completes team assignments for 2020 Fall Season
July 16 - Premier I and II Mandatory Scheduling. Location/Process TBD (14U through 19U)*
July 17 - First Divisions Mandatory Scheduling. Location/Process TBD (14U through 19U)*
July 24 - Team Registration Begins for 2021 Spring Season (15U through 19U)
August 1 - 2020 Fall Season Begins
August 28 - Team Registration Closes for 2021 Spring Season (15U through 19U)
October 12 - Team Registration Begins for 2021 Spring Season (13U & 14U)
October 24 - Roster Freeze Deadline for the 2020 Fall Season
November 8 - 2020 Fall Season - Last day of scheduled games for ALL 14U teams
November 9 - Team Registration Closes for 2021 Spring Season (13U & 14U)
November 22 - 2020 Fall Season - Last day of scheduled games for ALL 15U-19U teams
*Final decisions on scheduling meeting locations/processes TBD based on Covid-19 guidelines
