U.S. Soccer Coaching Education Updates
Since March, U.S. Soccer Coaching Education has been working to modify course curriculums to allow for coaches to continue to attend educational courses and earn a coaching license.
The revised learning options include a new blended format, which will be offeredin addition to the traditional and onlineformats.
-Traditional: in-person (pre-COVID course format)
-Online: online grassroots modules (4v4, 7v7, 9v9, 11v11)
-Blended: in-person + virtual(new format)
“With COVID-19 safety as our top priority, we have been exploring a variety of options to continue Coaching Education courses while maintaining our standards,” said Barry Pauwels, Director of U.S. Soccer Coaching Education. “Now, we’re ready to launch these modified coursesto help coaches continue to learn and grow while staying safe.”
Please note that programming is subject to change as we navigate the challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. We will share additional updates as we continue to modify courses for different learning formats.
Grassroots Courses(4v4, 7v7, 9v9, 11v11)
Member associations are able to offer Grassroots in-person courses in atraditionalorblendedlearning format. Blended courses consist of the two-hour lecture portion being taught virtually, and the two-hour field component being done in-person.
D Courses
Member associations are able to offer D courses in thetraditionalformat and will soon offer them in theblendedformat as well. For blended courses, candidates will learn virtually over a 10 to 12-week period followed by a one-day in-person assessment.
C Courses
Members have the option to offer C Courses in atraditionalorblendedformat. Blended C Courses will consist of virtual learning spread out over a 10 to 12-week period, followed by a two-day in-person assessment.
All available Grassroots, D, and C Courses are listed in theU.S. Soccer Learning Center. Additional questions on scheduling or availability should be directed toward the listed course administrator(s) or member association hosting the course.
Academy Director, A-Youth, A-Senior, B Courses
Academy Director, A-Youth, A-Senior and B courses will be taught in a blended format. Courses will begin virtually and end with a final in-person meeting next spring.
Application windows for these courses are typically announced via Learning Center emails.
