5 Missouri Teams in Regional Semifinals & 3 advance to the Finals!!

5 Teams Representing 5 Different Missouri Clubs in the Midwest Regional Championship Semifinals!

Semifinals Recap

Five Missouri teams competed in the Midwest Regional semi-final matches held today at Creve Coeur Park. After four matches were played, three teams from two different age groups have moved on to the final Midwest Regional Championship games that will be played tomorrow.


In the first match up, the U17 girls Sporting STL Rangers played against Greater Libertyville FC 1974 Elite (IL). Minutes before the end of the first half, Sporting STL scored after the ball was bobbled in the 18-yard box, putting them up 1-0. Libertyville FC game back in the second half to tie it up 1-1. At the end of regulation, the game was still tied and the teams continued to two full 15-minute overtimes with no golden goal. No goals were scored in the first overtime. In the second overtime, Sporting STL scored and then scored again a couple minutes shortly after, making the final score 3-1. This team that received a wildcard to Regionals is now headed to the championship game tomorrow against Kansas Rush Academy (KS). Game time starts at 9 A.M. and will be on CCP field 10.


The U19/U20 LFA girls O’Rouke fought hard against SC Wave (WI) but was one goal short from moving on. The game ended up in a 3-2 loss, which resulted in the end of the LFA O’Rouke era. These girls, many of whom are committed to play college soccer, will now be focusing on their collegiate soccer seasons that start in the fall.


In the U17 boys semi-final game, there were two Missouri teams that went head-to-head. KCSG Academy Wolf and J.B. Marine Academy played each other in a well fought match. At halftime, KCSG was up 1-0. The game ended up in a 3-0 win for KCSG. J.B. Marine had some chances but could not find the back of the net. KCSG will go on to the play Cincinnati United Gold (OHS) in the championship. Game time will start at 9:30 A.M. and will be on CCP field 9.



In one of the most exciting games this whole tournament, the U19/U20 SLSG Elite boys faced off against Galaxy SC Blue (IL). At the end of regulation time, the score was tied 0-0. The boys went into the first overtime with still no goals scored. In the second overtime, Galaxy SC scored making it 1-0. SLSG put in substitute, Tanner Anderson. Anderson brought energy onto the field and scored to tie it up 1-1. Anderson motivated his teammates in that second overtime and SLSG scored two more goals in less than 15 minutes of play. The final score was 3-1, sending SLSG Elite to the championship against Chicago FC United Pre-Academy (IL). The game will start at 9:30 A.M. tomorrow and will be played on CCP field 13.

Pool Play Recap

After three days of preliminary play between 224 of the best teams from the Midwest, only 56 teams have moved onto the Midwest Regional semifinals. 5 of those 56 teams are from Missouri! These 5 teams are from 5 different Missouri clubs, consisting of St. Louis Scott Gallagher, Lou Fusz Athletic, J.B. Marine SC, Kansas City Scott Gallagher, and Sporting St. Louis!


In the U17 boys’ bracket, the two Midwest Conference Wildcards Missouri teams outlasted the State Cup Champions and advanced out of their pool play brackets. Kansas City Scott Gallagher (KCSG) Wolf won two of their games and lost one game tallying six points. Raiders FC (IL) also had six points, but KCSG moved on due to having less goals allowed. J.B. Marine Academy was the other Missouri team to advance out of pool play. They ended up with seven points in their bracket, with two wins and one tie. KCSG Wolf and J.B. Marine will play each other in an exciting semifinal game at 8 A.M. at Creve Coeur Park on Field 9.


In the U19/U20 boys’ bracket, SLSG Elite will be representing Missouri in the semifinals. Elite swiftly breezed by their bracket tallying nine points. This team won all three of their games, scoring an age-group high of 14 goals while only conceding 2! SLSG will go on to play wildcard team Galaxy SC Blue (IL) tomorrow at Creve Coeur Park on Field 1 at 8 A.M.


Sporting STL Rangers came out on top in the U17 girls’ bracket. This Midwest Conference Wildcard team came into the event hot and won all three of their games, scoring 12 goals and allowing only conceding 2 due to great efforts from both their offense and defense. They will look to carry this momentum forward for their semifinal game against Greater Libertyville FC Elite (IL) at Creve Coeur Park at 8 A.M. on Field 7.


The fifth and final team from Missouri to move on is the U19/U20 girls’ LFA O’Rourke. They fought hard in this challenging bracket but came out on top after two wins and one tie. O’Rourke’s defense and goalkeeper allowed only one goal to be scored throughout pool play. LFA will play their semifinal match tomorrow against wildcard team SC Wave Juniors (WI). The game will be at Creve Coeur Park on Field 13 at 8 A.M.
