INDEPENDENT TEAM REGISTRATION
Any Missouri Competitive level team that wishes to register with the State Office and are not affiliated with any particular member club or league may do so by using the Independent Team registration link below. The State Office will issue you your player cards and rosters and effectively become your registrar and manage your roster changes for you. The cost is $100 per team and $22 per player ($19 MYSA card fee and $3 admin. fee – paid during each individual’s registration).
You are welcome to register up to four (4) Independent Teams per year. If you have more than 4 teams, we encourage you to apply for full MYSA club membership.
Steps to complete the process:
- Coaches/Managers should first complete the Coach/Manager Registration to be eligible to register their team
- Coaches/Managers can then create and register their team for the current season here: Independent Team Registration
- Once a team has been created, players can register and select the necessary team here: Player Registration
- After all players and coaches have registered and completed the necessary requirements, please contact the MYSA Staff listed below to confirm / lock the roster and generate cards for your members.
Independent Team Registration Walk-Through Instructions
Please contact Mitch for assistance with your registration if needed.
State Pass (Formerly At-Large) Players
A Missouri State Pass is an option for any individual player that wishes to register with MYSA without belonging to any specific MYSA member club/organization. State Pass players may guest play with any team that invites them to participate. The state office issues you your player card and effectively becomes your registrar. You will need to go through the state office for any guest player forms to be processed.
- You cannot be on a “club team” and be a state pass player, it is one or the other.
- A State Pass Player cannot participate in a State Cup or Presidents Cup as a guest player.
- This registration is ONLY FOR THOSE PLAYERS STAYING INSIDE THE STATE OF MISSOURI TO PLAY SOCCER.
- If you are a Missouri Resident wanting to register for a team from another state, please see the Out-of-State Player Registration tab.
- IF YOU ARE A NON-MISSOURI RESIDENT, YOU MUST FIRST GO THROUGH YOUR HOME STATE ASSOCIATION FOR A RELEASE BEFORE YOU CAN REGISTER FOR A MISSOURI PLAYER PASS
SEE BELOW FOR A TRAPPED PLAYER STATUS (generally an 8th grader or HS Senior whose teammates have moved on to HS or College respectively).
FEES
The State Pass (At-Large) total cost is $50 / player.

After you have completed the online registration procedure, you will need to take the following steps to receive your player card:
- Email Mitch Cissell (MYSA Registrar). They will be able to verify that you have paid and are ready to have your card printed.
- The STATE PASS card will be mailed to you within 5 – 7 days, if you want the card within 48 hours of submitting the request (weekend days do not count in the 48-hour calculation) there is an additional $50.00 service fee for expedited service.
- If you wish to have your card overnight mail, there is an additional $20.00 postage fee, if you lose your card there is a $10.00 reprint fee.
“TRAPPED PLAYER” REGISTRATION
If you are considered a “trapped player” (in 8th grade or senior year of HS) and the remainder of your school grade has moved on to freshmen year or college. Missouri Youth Soccer considers you a “trapped player” meaning you do not have a team to register with the entire season. You may register through this link, the state office will issue you your player card, you will guest play with your team for league/tournaments and then you may transfer to a team when your registration becomes available.
Before you sign up for this player card be sure the above paragraph applies to you, if we start the process and find that you are not eligible we will email you and apply your registration to the “state pass” instead and additional fees will be added. The fee for a trapped player is $24.00 ($19 MYSA Registration Fee + $5 Player Card Fee).

This form is for registered players who wish to change their primary club/organization during the current season.
The $400 fee serves as an automatic release from a club during the open transfer window (see below).
PLAYER TRANSFER
Once registered, a player is tied to their club for a seasonal year. It is possible to transfer from one club to another with approval from the departing club and within the restrictions noted below & in the MYSA Registration Policies. The full policy may be found HERE
It should be noted that a transfer, either with approval or without, does not absolve a player/parent from any financial arrangements within a “Player’s Agreement” or other signed legal documents between the player and their current club.
d. PLAYER TRANSFER AND RELEASE
Player Transfer Policy: Once the player or the player’s representative executes the registration form and pays the appropriate fees, that player is bound to the member organization for the duration of the seasonal year. The seasonal year for Missouri Youth Soccer runs August 1 through the opening date of tryouts or, for those teams which are advancing, the conclusion or elimination of the team in any remaining USYS National Competitions. This policy is specifically for the rostering of competitive players that wish to move organizations and has no bearing on recreational participants who can move freely within organizations.
Some latitude does exist for the movement of a player within a seasonal year as follows:
A player may be granted a no-cost transfer at any time during a seasonal year from one club to another provided there is approval from both the sending and receiving teams/clubs. A Director from the sending club must provide written notification directly to Mo Youth Soccer granting permission for the transfer to occur (email is acceptable). A club is not required to grant a release and may require payment of fees to grant a release per their player agreement.
If needed, players have opportunity to transfer during the soccer season without approval via the process below:
Between December 1st and January 15th of the seasonal year, a player may request, and be granted, a transfer from one team/club to another team/club once the following provisions are met:
1) There will be a $400 transfer fee charged. $100 of the fee will remain with the Missouri Youth Soccer Association for administrative purposes and $300 to the team losing the player for administrative purposes. This fee is paid as part of the transfer request process and must be completed, you should anticipate a 3-7 day delay between the request and the transfer to occur.
Only in an extreme situation would a transfer without a fee or club permission be considered, in these rare instances a written statement fully documenting the reason for the occurrence should be directed via e-mail to the District Commissioner for your area. District Contacts are available HERE. Lack of playing time & team placement are not reasons for exception and these matters should be discussed directly with your club’s Directors.
Update to Permission to Participate Policy
Effective August 1st, 2017 it is no longer required to obtain a “Permission to Participate” form to attend an event outside of your club team. All recruiting rules still apply and have been recently updated. You cannot be offered a roster position during a seasonal year.
TRAVEL PERMITS & NON-USYS EVENTS BOTH IN-STATE AND OUT:
Missouri honors all Applications to Host from other State Associations but may not, at its own discretion, extend insurance coverage or pass card usage to non-USYS sanctioned events both outside the State of Missouri as well as inside the state borders. You should contact the MYSA office should you intend to participate in a non-MYSA sanctioned tournament within the state to find out if your coverage is in effect prior to applying to those events.
Any Missouri-registered team that is traveling outside the state of Missouri for a tournament, league play, or friendly, is required to get a travel permit. Any team that is playing or participating in any event that is sanctioned by any other state, and happen to be playing in Missouri you will need a travel permit. (for example, you may be playing at Swope Park in Kansas City but the event you are playing in has been sanctioned by Kansas and not Missouri – you will need a travel permit)
If a team is participating in an out-of-state event and does not request (and receive) a travel permit, your team will not be covered under the MYSA insurance policies. Therefore, the players will not be covered under our accident policy in case of injury for that event.
THE TOURNAMENT CENTER:
Travel permits are now exclusively done through The Tournament Center.
For instructions on how to complete a Travel Permit Request, please see the following step-by-step guide: Requesting a Travel Permit
INTERNATIONAL CLEARANCE PROCESS
Per FIFA’s Regulations, the international clearance process is required when any foreign-born player over the age of 10 is attempting to register with an affiliated club/team/league in the United States, regardless of that player’s soccer ability or citizenship and one or both of the below instances apply:
- Player was born outside of the United States, including U.S. citizens born abroad.
- Player previously registered with a club/team/league outside of the United States.
Each member club is responsible for obtaining the clearance on behalf of these players prior to their registration and participation with any U.S. Soccer affiliated club/team/ league. Clearance is required for ALL players who meet one or both of the above instances regardless of past practices, age, nationality, club affiliation, or member organization with which the player is registering/participating. Failure to adhere to the requirements can result in fines and/or sanctioning from both FIFA and U.S. Soccer.
For more details, visit the US Soccer International Clearance Process page.

GOVERNANCE
Nonprofit governance focuses primarily on the fiduciary responsibility that a board of directors has with respect to the exercise of authority over the explicit public trust that is understood to exist between the mission of an organization and those whom the organization serves. Missouri Youth Soccer and each of our member organizations may have started as soccer organizations but we have thrived because we are nonprofits that have demonstrated to our community that we are here to serve a vital need – we believe in the game of soccer as a vehicle to create better people through the physical, mental, and emotional development that is fostered through our sport and our supporters.

Secondary Player Form Changes
Transition to an Online Form
Beginning in the 24/25 season, MYSA will be transitioning our Secondary Player Form from a paper form to being a secure, online form in GotSport;
MYSA Secondary Player Form 24/25
The proposed Secondary Club will complete the form, using the players’ name, Primary club & team information, then pay the $9 fee attached to the form.
Similar to the paper form and our current Transfer Form, both clubs are required to Approve the form in GotSport before the player can be rostered to the team as a Secondary Player (if the Primary and Secondary team are within the same club, the form will approve automatically).
The article linked below contains detailed instructions on how to complete the new Secondary Player Form.
How to Complete the 2024-2025 MYSA Secondary Player Form
Voucher Codes
This new application process can only be processed for one player at a time. However, to assist clubs in speeding up this process, you can prepay for a voucher code to be set up for your club. Thus allowing you to bypass the payment section of the form.
To set this up, please submit the Secondary Player Voucher Request Form (Club must prepay for AT LEAST 10 players at a time).
We will add a charge to your club account for the number of players requested. Once that fee is paid, we will issue a voucher code on your behalf.
When utilizing a voucher code, the application process can be completed in under a minute: View Demonstration Video
